Analyzing Anderson’s 25-54 Demo #’s

By Brian

Anderson Cooper averaged 593,000 viewers during his first full week anchoring 360 from 10pm to midnight, down 15 percent from NewsNight’s Oct. 2005 average.

On Friday, AC averaged 672,000 viewers at 10 and 444,000 at 11.

CNN’s eyes are focused on Cooper’s ratings in the 25-54 demographic. On Friday, the 10pm hour of 360 was the fourth most-watched cable news program of the day in the demo. But compared to Oct. 2005, the two-hour time period is down 8 percent in the 25-54 demo, from an average of 241,000 viewers to an average of 221,000.

Last week, between 10 and 11pm, Cooper averaged 254,000 viewers in the demo. Between 11pm and midnight, he averaged 189,000. Meanwhile, Greta averaged 428,000 demo viewers last week, and O’Reilly’s 11pm repeat averaged 324.000. Cooper was supposed to attract young viewers later at night — at least that was the theory. But the attraction isn’t evident — at least not yet.
