Almaguer Named NBC News Correspondent

NBC News has named Miguel Almaguer a Burbank-based correspondent, effective April 2.

Almaguer will contribute to all NBC News properties. He has been a general assignment reporter at WRC-TV, NBC’s Washington, D.C. station, since 2006. He previously reported at several stations in California.

Miguel Almaguer has been named NBC News correspondent, effective April 2. Almaguer will be based in Burbank and will contribute to all NBC News properties, including “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “Today” and MSNBC. The announcement was made today by NBC News President Steve Capus.

Almaguer has been a general assignment reporter specializing in breaking news coverage at WRC in Washington, DC since 2006. Prior to joining WRC, Almaguer was a reporter for KCRA in Sacramento from 2003-2006. His first job in television was with KSBW-TV in Salinas, California from 2000-2003.

Almaguer has received an Emmy Award for coverage of the San Diego wild fires in 2007 and was an Edward R. Murrow Spot News Award Winner in 2004. In addition, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists has honored Almaguer with awards and scholarships.

A native of Berkeley, California, Almaguer graduated with high honors from San Francisco State University with a degree in broadcast communications.
