Alexis Glick Leaving Fox Business

By kevin

At the end of “Opening Bell” on FBN, anchor and VP of Business News Alexis Glick announced it would be her last broadcast on the network.

“I want you guys to know that today will be my last day here at the Fox Business Network,” she said. “How many people can say that they’ve had the opportunity to help build a brand new network. Being the first new employee of FBN. Seeing it grow today to over 300 extraordinarily talented people. It’s been an experience of a lifetime.”

“I’m about to embark on a new venture that’s going to allow me to utilize the skills I’ve learned at Fox Business, Morgan Stanley and the ‘Today show,'” she continued. “I can’t give any details yet, but suffice it to say that I’m extremely excited about taking on another interesting and unique project.”

Shortly after stepping off the air, she tweeted:

I am about to embark on a new venture. Can’t give any details :), but I can say that am extremely excited. Thank you all for your support!

Glick had been with the network since 2006 and had been one of the most visible personalities. Previously she had been an anchor on the NBC “Today” show’s third hour. In addition to “Opening Bell,” Glick was formerly the anchor of the preceding “Money for Breakfast,” which was ended with the addition of Don Imus to the FBN lineup.

Glick was joined on-screen for a final goodbye by some of her “Opening Bell” colleagues, including Charles Payne, with whom she shared an emotional moment.

After the jump, an email Glick sent to colleagues and friends…

Hi Everyone,

Earlier this morning I announced to my colleagues and our viewers that I will be leaving Fox. It has been an honor and a privilege working with each and every one of you. I can’t thank you enough for your friendship, guidance and presence on-air as we launched this network. As I said earlier this morning, I have enjoyed three fulfilling years of growth, learning and development. How many people can say they have had the opportunity to help build a brand new network? Being the first new employee of FBN and seeing it grow to over 300 extraordinarily talented employees has been the experience of a lifetime. I am so proud of what we have accomplished and I wish my colleagues continued success in the future.

If it were not for each of you, none of this could have been possible. I know you have many questions and as you can understand it’s too early to make an announcement. I am about to embark on a new venture that will allow me to utilize the skills I have learned at Fox Business, Morgan Stanley, and the Today Show. I can’t give any details yet, but suffice it to say that I am extremely excited about taking on yet another interesting and unique project.

In the meantime you can reach me at [redacted].

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday! May all your dreams come true in 2010!

Warmest regards,

Alexis
