Usually they deliver the news, but today BusinessWire is the news.

The company that makes its money by delivering corporate press releases, launched its first-ever web series today called BizWireTV. What’s interesting is who’s behind it: Today show weatherman Al Roker‘s production company Al Roker Entertainment is producing the twice-weekly show.

“This is an exciting change for Business Wire and Al Roker Entertainment is eager to extend this already trusted brand by producing these shows,” said Tracie Brennan, evp of Al Roker Entertainment.

This is just the latest side project for Roker, who spends the first several hours of his day (and into the evenings some days) at NBC News. He’ll soon host the Weather Channel’s first mobile weather show, The Lift, he continues his association with the Food Network, and he recently launched Al Roker Labs, a new venture that taps the potential of livestreaming apps.

Founded in 1961, BusinessWire was acquired by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway in 2006. This is the company’s first foray into digital video. The host of BizWireTV is Erin Ade, who previously hosted a show on RT America. Here’s the first episode:
