Al Jazeera America is making changes… again.
TVNewser has learned that “Real Money with Ali Velshi” is moving studios, for cost purposes. The show’s senior executive producer John Meehan is also being let go.
Al Jazeera America is currently renting studio space from MCP Studios, at 34th St. and 8th Avenue, as well as another nearby studio on 33rd Street, formerly used by CurrentTV, which Al Jazeera acquired two years ago this week. That’s where Velshi’s show originated. The network plans to consolidate operations in a new home about a mile north at W. 55th St and 8th Ave.
AJAM has been cutting costs since last April when network President Kate O’Brian sent an email to staffers, writing “certain parts of our organization will expand or contract and staff levels and resources will be recalibrated.”
