Ailes Apprentice Program Will Now Be Called the Fox News Apprentice Program

By Chris Ariens

TVNewser has learned that the 12th class of the Ailes Apprentice Program will graduate under a new name: the Fox News Apprentice Program. The renaming of the minority journalists program comes two weeks after network chairman CEO Roger Ailes, who founded the program and named it for himself in 2003, resigned his post following a sexual harassment investigation.

The current class is set to graduate in November.

Another program named for Ailes, the Ailes Junior Reporters Program, will now be called the Fox News Reporter Training Program. Sharri Berg, SVP of News Operations for FNC and Fox TV stations, runs the program. The trainees will be referred to as multi-media reporters. Fox expects the next class to be named within a month and training and orientation will begin in late September. Several members of the first two classes of Junior Reporters have moved to on air positions across the country, including Garrett Tenney, now a Washington D.C. correspondent for Fox News; Matt Finn is a Chicago-based correspondent; Lauren Blanchard is a political embed and was just named a D.C.-based correspondent for FNC and Fox News Edge; and Hillary Vaughn, also a political embed, was just named a Los Angeles-based correspondent for FNC and FBN.

“These graduates are going to change the world,” said Ailes at last year’s AAP graduation. “They are the best hope for this country. They understand what it means to work, contribute, communicate and lead.”
