Aftermath: Networks “Rejiggering” Primetime For Presidential P.R. Effort

Michele Greppi: “President Bush’s request for TV time to address the nation from Louisiana at 9 p.m. (ET) Thursday has the broadcast networks rejiggering their prime-time lineups and scheduling updated editions of their flagship newscasts for the time zones in which the speech, which is expected to be more image repair than substance, already will have been heard.”

It’s complicated: All the nets will air the speech, but some are scheduling 9:30pm shows in case Bush wraps up in half an hour. If he doesn’t, some of the channels will fill the time until 10pm. And then there’s the West Coast to worry about. Here is the tentative plan…
