Aftermath: GMA Airs Special Report, And Other Morning Show Highlights

Good Morning America presented a special report about Katrina’s aftermath this morning. Diane Sawyer hosted from a small church outside Baton Rouge where evacuees are being sheltered. Robin Roberts reported from Biloxi. The show had a special format, with no commercials in certain portions. Other morning show items:

> ABC asked a microbiologist to test the water in the Ninth Ward, and he found that “total sewage bacteria in a water sample…[was] 45,000 times what would be considered safe for swimming in a pond or a lake.”

> On ‘Today,’ Mayor Ray Nagin said it would take three weeks to remove the water…

> On ‘The Early Show,’ Jefferson Parish president and Meet the Press star Aaron Broussard said “bureaucracy has murdered people in the greater New Orleans area.”
