After 13 Years, Wedding Photo Left in 9/11 Rubble Returned to Owner on ‘Fox & Friends’

A wedding party photo left behind in the rubble of 9/11 was reunited with one of its owners this morning on “Fox & Friends.”

“You couldn’t have made up a better ending,” Elizabeth Stringer Keefe told Steve Doocy. Days after 9/11, Keefe’s friend gave her a photo she found in the rubble showing a newly married couple and their wedding party. One member of that wedding party, Fred Mahe, had the photo on his desk at the World Trade Center on 9/11. He arrived to work after the attack occurred. And on Friday, Mahe was alerted to a tweet penned on the 13th anniversary of the attacks last week by Keefe.

The tweet was retweeted over 6,500 times and featured in People Magazine. After finding out about Keefe’s tweet, Mahe contacted her, and they met for the first time this morning as part of a “Fox and Friends” exclusive.

“This story isn’t about the picture, or me, or 9/11,” Mahe said. “This story is about 9/12 because on 9/12 was the best of humanity.” The then-newly married couple and the members of the wedding party featured in the photo are all alive today.
