ABC’s Ted Koppel Becomes Overseas Press Clubs’ “Winningest Awardee”

Quoting Wednesday night’s press release: “When ABC News Nightline wins the David Kaplan Award for best TV spot news reporting from abroad tonight at the 66th Annual Overseas Press Club Awards ceremony in New York City, anchor Ted Koppel will have earned a record 10 OPC awards to become the most honored journalist in OPC history. Edward R. Murrow is next on the career list with nine awards according to the OPC.

“Ted Koppel has set the standard for superb television journalism, a broadcast genius at tough but respectful interviewing, wry insightful commentary and putting words and pictures together for extraordinary impact,” said Richard B. Stolley, President of the Overseas Press Club. “It is these editorial virtues that have brought him an unprecedented 10 Overseas Press Club Awards.”
