Tanya Rivero joins ABC News Now as an anchor and correspondent. ABC says “Rivero will anchor live coverage and news briefs for ABC News Now, which delivers live breaking news, headlines every half-hour and original programming.” Rivero will also host News Now programs including Top Priority, Money Matters, and What’s The Buzz? TANYA RIVERO NAMED ABC NEWS NOW ANCHOR

Tanya Rivero has been named anchor and correspondent for ABC News’ digital network, ABC News Now, based in New York. In this role, Ms. Rivero will anchor live coverage and news briefs for ABC News Now, which delivers live breaking news, headlines every half-hour and original programming. In addition, Ms. Rivero will host News Now programs including “Top Priority,” “Money Matters,” and “What’s The Buzz.”

In making the announcement, ABC News President David Westin said: “Tanya is a welcome addition to our expanding ABC News Now team. We are very excited to have her back at ABC News where she first began her journalism career.”

Prior to joining ABC News, Ms. Rivero was a reporter and substitute anchor for WCBS-TV, the CBS affiliate in New York. She joined the station in July 2005. There she covered breaking news in and around New York City and reported on a wide range of topics including crime, politics, and culture issues. She was also an anchor and reporter for News 12 — The Bronx, where she anchored daily morning newscasts.

Ms. Rivero began her career in journalism at ABC News while she was an undergraduate. She worked as a desk assistant for “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings” and the program’s weekend editions.

Ms. Rivero is a graduate from Yale University and holds a M.S. from the Columbia University School of Journalism.

Before pursuing journalism, Ms. Rivero was a Corpes de Ballet dancer with the New York City Ballet.
