ABC Wins Tuesday Despite Weaker Lead-In

63.2 million people watched the second Presidential debate Tuesday. That’s less than the 70 million who watched the VP debate last Thursday but 11 million more than the first presidential contest Sept. 26.

ABC was once again the top rated network with 13,200,000 viewers, followed by NBC with 10,860,000 and CBS with 9,440,000.

ABC had a strong lead-in to the debate with Dancing With the Stars, which averaged 13,345,000. But the top show at 8pmET was CBS’ NCIS, with 15,692,000, meaning the CBS drop-off was most severe. NBC gained significantly to put itself in 2nd place. NBC’s lead-in, Biggest Loser: Families, averaged 7,487,000 viewers.

(And back to “Dancing” — this morning, Good Morning America called an interview with Dancing With the Stars contestant Cheryl Burke “exclusive.” Really? Did anyone think she’d show up on the Today show?)
