ABC News Wins 5 Murrow Awards Including Overall Excellence

ABC News has been honored with five Edward R. Murrow network TV Awards including the 2016 award for Overall Excellence. Here’s the video ABC submitted. It begins with Diane Sawyer‘s interview with Bruce Jenner, who was transitioning to Caitlin Jenner. Sawyer’s interview in April 2015, which drew more than 17 million viewers also won a duPont Award.

The RTDNA presented NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt with best newscast for coverage of November’s attacks in Paris.

In the TV categories, ESPN won three awards, NBC and CBS each won two, and HBO won one for news documentary for the Edward Snowden doc CitizenFour.

ABC News also won for best website and, for the third year in a row, ABC News Radio won for Overall Excellence. “These wins mean so much to us because they recognize the hard work of every single person here,” wrote ABC News president James Goldston in a note to staff. “They reflect your tenacious commitment to reporting and innovative storytelling – and working as one seamless team to make it all possible.”
