First on TVNewser: ABC News will produce a scripted miniseries for ABC next year called “The Assets.”
The limited series is based on the book Circle of Treason: A CIA Account of Traitor Aldrich Ames and the Men He Betrayed, by veteran CIA officers Sandra Grimes and Jeanne Vertefeuille.
“The Assets” will look at the end of the Cold War through the eyes of the CIA and its agents, and will likely air next Summer, though no timetable has been set.

ABC’s Lincoln Square Productions will produce the series for ABC, with Morgan Hertzan, Rudy Bednar and Andrew Chapman serving as EPs. Bednar also produced a limited series for ABC last year called “Final Witness.” Like “The Assets,” “Final Witness” was a scripted series based on actual events.
