ABC News Speaks with Juror #3, Jennifer Ford: ‘We Were Sick to Our Stomach to Get That Verdict’

By Chris Ariens

ABC News has gotten the first interview with a juror in the Casey Anthony trial. Juror #3, Jennifer Ford said that she and the other jurors cried and were “sick to our stomach” after delivering the not guilty verdict.

“I did not say she was innocent,” said Ford. “I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be.”

“Everyone wonders why we didn’t speak to the media right away,” Ford said. “It was because we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying and not just the women. It was emotional and we weren’t ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial.”

ABC News, which like other networks has been under scrutiny for paying licensing fees to obtain interviews, says it did not pay anything for Ford’s interview, which was conducted by Terry Moran in Orlando.

During testimony on June 28, the meter reader who discovered Caylee’s remains testified ABC News paid him $15,000 for a photo of a snake.

The interview with Ford, as well as Barbara Walters’ interview with defense attorney Jose Baez air on tonight’s “Primetime Nightline” at 10pmET/9pmCT.
