ABC News is taking a weekly version of Nightline to streaming.
The network’s in-house production shop ABC News Studios announced today the launch of Impact x Nightline, ABC News’ first weekly streaming news magazine based off the legendary late night news program.
The series will stream exclusively on Hulu, debuting Thursday, Oct. 6—and is the second weekly offering from ABC News for streaming viewers, following the recent launch of George Stephanopoulos‘ political series for Hulu, Power Trip.
“Impact x Nightline is a premium news magazine for ABC News’ growing streaming audience,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a statement. “The weekly program will take an in-depth look at the stories and issues dominating the zeitgeist, offering additional insight viewers can’t get anywhere else.”
Nightline ep Eman Varoqua, who will also executive produce Impact x Nightline, adds, “The title of the show is intentional. We’re hoping that it not only explores the topics that matter to our viewers, but does so in a meaningful way that can actually have an impact.”
Upcoming episodes will tackle a wide range of topics—and the first one centers on abortion. In the series premiere, ABC News congressional correspondent Rachel Scott and the Impact x Nightline team go beyond the culture wars, heading out across the country telling the stories of women, families and providers while exploring the complexity of the divisive issue. According to ABC News, “The documentary-style report includes personal abortion stories and activists on both sides, including TikTok creators —one pro-abortion rights and one anti-abortion rights—who are gaining national attention and examines abortion in America in a post-Roe v. Wade world.”
“Impact x Nightline will break from the norm, showcasing immersive, story-driven reporting that you won’t see anywhere,” adds ABC News vp of streaming news Justin Dial, the executive who will oversee Impact x Nightline. “If you are seeing it on Impact, it probably means you haven’t heard about this side of the story. The program will take the viewers to the frontlines of the story, reporting from anywhere in the world where the story happens.”
