In addition to Christiane Amanpour’s off-camera interview with Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak — the first since the choas in his country began — last night’s one-hour “Nightline” explored the violence against journalists over the last 48 hours. Anchor David Muir talked with CNN’s Anderson Cooper as well as an ABC News crew that was threatened with beheading by pro-Mubarak supporters as they drove from the airport to downtown Cairo.

“He was so angry at the perceived media bias,” said correspondent/producer Brian Hartman of one of his attackers. “He said so help me God, I will cut off your head.”

“It was terrifying. We really thought we were finished.”
