ABC & BBC Commission Afghanistan Survey

ABC News and the BBC World Service have released the results of an exclusive public opinion poll in Afghanistan. The results are being used for ABC’s “Afghanistan: Where Things Stand” coverage today, on the fifth anniversary of the fall of Kandahar.

“ABC News commissioned the comprehensive national survey as a follow-up to last year’s prize-winning poll — the first news-sponsored survey ever done in that country,” a press release says. “This year’s project finds sharp deterioration in optimism among ordinary Afghans.”

Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 1,036 randomly selected Afghan adults across the country. Here are the poll results, and stories by ABC and the BBC…
