Aaron Sorkin’s Next TV Show Tackling Cable News

By Alex Weprin

Nearly two years ago, we floated the idea that “West Wing” creator and The Social Network” writer Aaron Sorkin was contemplating doing a TV series based on the behind-the-scenes goings on at a cable news show.

It looks like that project is happening. Sorkin appeared on “BBC Breakfast,” where he spilled (some of) the beans about the project”

I am going to be doing another TV series as well, this time for HBO. And it is going to take place behind the scenes at a nightly cable news show.

TVNewser had heard that Sorkin had been an off-camera guest at some tapings of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” last year, sitting in on meetings and watching the show’s production from the wings. He has also been a  guest on “Parker Spitzer,” and we hear that he has been quizzing some of that shows staff members about the cable news business as well.

Update: courtesy of commenter “Plep,” Sorkin may tap Olbermann to write some rants for the show, according to Entertainment Weekly.

What do you think, would you watch an HBO show from Aaron Sorkin about the world of cable news?
