Diane Sawyer‘s “20/20” special “The Untold Story of the Sound of Music” did respectably in the ratings last night.
The special, marking the 50th anniversary of the film, tied CSI: Cyber in the two younger demos: A18-49 (1.4/5) and A25-54 (2.0/6) and averaged 7.32 million total viewers, second in the hour to CSI: Cyber.
It’s a good thing the special didn’t run from 8-10pmET/PT when the season finale of FOX’s “Empire” was airing. The show was the most watched of the night drawing 16.7 million total viewers and drawing a whopping 6.5 rating / 20 share in the A18-49 demo. “Empire,” which is the most-watched new show in a decade, has also been a social phenomenon since its debut.
