60 Minutes Sports, produced by the 60 Minutes team and airing on Showtime, has been canceled, TVNewser has learned.

A CBS News spokesperson confirms a meeting was held Wednesday to inform the staff of the upcoming changes. The final episode of the monthly show will air in April.

A handful of jobs will be lost. Affected employees will be encouraged to apply for other jobs within CBS once the cuts are announced.

Launched four years ago, 60 Minutes Sports produced new shows monthly, 49 episodes so far, airing on CBS-owned Showtime. The production and reporting staffs of 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes Sports overlap. Primary correspondents for the Sports show include Sharyn Alfonsi and Armen Keteyian who both contribute to other areas of CBS News. Before returning to CBS in 2012, Keteyian had two stints on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.
