Television’s most watched news program had an exceptional night Sunday, November 21. CBS’ “60 Minutes” drew 17.7 million total viewers, its best performance since December, 2008.

“60 Minutes” was the fourth most-watched program on all of television for the week, its highest spot on that ranker in nearly a year. It was the fifth time in the last nine weeks the show has cracked the Nielsen top 10.

Sunday’s edition featured Armen Keteyian’s report on the DEA agents who lured and arrested international arms dealer Viktor Bout, Steve Kroft’s profile of famed microbiologist and human genome-mapper Craig Venter and Lara Logan’s profile of actor Mark Wahlberg.

In addition, the “60 Minutes” iPad application premiered on the iTunes charts as the top grossing app for the tablet device. The app sells for $4.99.
