NBC’s Lester Holt wins another week in the evenings, and does so while doubling its total viewer advantage over ABC.
For the week of Sept. 28, Nightly News led World News Tonight with David Muir by 134,000 viewers. Last week, the lead was 319,000 viewers. NBC’s 11 consecutive wins in the A25-54 demo, is the show’s best streak since April 2014, when Diane Sawyer was anchoring World News and Brian Williams was at the helm of Nightly News.
Season to date, Muir’s World News Tonight is growing, averaging its largest overall audience in 10 years – since the 2005-06 season.
No. 3 CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley showed the most growth compared to the same week last year. Pelley’s broadcast was up +8 percent in viewers and up +7 percent in the demo. Nightly News and World News tonight were both down -3 percent in viewers. In the demo, NBC was flat and ABC was down -9 percent.
Because of preemptions due to Thursday Night Football, CBS’s average is based on four days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
