At the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Monday, 18 journalists who died while doing their jobs in 2017 were added to the Journalists Memorial.

CBS News Foreign correspondent Holly Williams was the keynote speaker at a ceremony to rededicate the memorial.

“The risk they take everyday tells you just how necessary journalism is,” Williams said. “Some of these journalists went about their work knowing they were making themselves targets, and that takes a kind of courage I find incredible,” she said.
