1,500 Attend Katie Couric’s Charity Bash

Katie Couric should find a new day job.

“She’s got other, more hidden talents, and she showed them last night at her annual fundraising dinner for her colon cancer charity,” Roger Friedman says.

“Hollywood Meets Motown” was produced by Ken Ehrlich. Sting, Elvis Costello and Mary J. Blige were a few of the performers. USA Today asked Couric about her recruitment technique. “I beg. I call. I badger. I cajole,” she said. “Part of the secret is everyone has fun and that’s really motivating.”

Other TV boldface names in the crowd of 1,500 included Connie Chung, Maury Povich, Ann Curry and Harry Smith.
