Katie Couric appeared on the CBS Early Show for the first (and not the last) time Tuesday morning. Her conversation with Harry Smith aired during the 7 and 8am hours.
Citing the “image of morning television,” Smith asked Couric if viewers should expect a more “exposed” evening news anchor. She pointed out that Tom Brokaw hosted the Today Show and “John Chancellor rode around on go-karts” before anchoring the evening news.
Smith asked if a double standard exists, and she said it sometimes seems to: “I think there is some residual sexism and I think women are sort of judged by different standards. But, you know, I try not to get too preoccupied by that…” |
