10 Hours To Katie… Early Show Interview

By Brian

Katie Couric appeared on the CBS Early Show for the first (and not the last) time Tuesday morning. Her conversation with Harry Smith aired during the 7 and 8am hours.

Citing the “image of morning television,” Smith asked Couric if viewers should expect a more “exposed” evening news anchor. She pointed out that Tom Brokaw hosted the Today Show and “John Chancellor rode around on go-karts” before anchoring the evening news.

Smith asked if a double standard exists, and she said it sometimes seems to: “I think there is some residual sexism and I think women are sort of judged by different standards. But, you know, I try not to get too preoccupied by that…”
