WABC Adds 30-Min. News Show

WABC, ABC’s flagship in New York, will add a half hour of news at 4:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 7, joining a trend that is fast becoming standard for TV stations across the U.S.

In New York, three stations have already backed up early AM news to 4:30 including WNYW, Fox Television’s owned-and-operated station; and most recently in March, WNBC, NBC’s flagship. WPIX, Tribune’s The CW affiliate, recently announced that beginning Sept. 20, it would trump all the early newscasts and start at 4 a.m.
