NEW YORK The new owners of Vibe have named publishing veteran Jermaine Hall editor-in-chief of the dormant hip-hop magazine and plan to resume publication in November.

Vibe Media Group abruptly shut down in June, blaming the poor economy and a decline in multicultural ad spending. InterMedia Partners, a private equity firm founded by Leo Hindery Jr., earlier this month acquired Vibe and Vibe.com for an undisclosed price.

InterMedia is combining Vibe with the operations of another urban lifestyle magazine it owns, Uptown, and partnering with Blackrock Digital to run Vibe.com.
