Based on final national ratings in December, MyNetworkTV averaged 2.4 million viewers in primetime – 26 percent above the comparable year-ago month. -Updated Ratings in Syndicated Magazine:Based on GAA (gross average audience) ratings through December 21, 2009, what follows are the updated results in syndicated magazine based on households and the key women 25-54 and adult 25-54 demos. CBS Television Distribution’s Entertainment Tonight, of course, continues to dominate. But also worth noting are the year-to-year gains for underrated corporate cousin Inside Edition. Households:Entertainment Tonight (CBS Television Distribution): 4.5 rating (+ 5), Inside Edition: 3.2 (+10), Access Hollywood (NBC Universal): 2.1 (+ 5), TMZ (Warner Bros.): 2.0 (- 9), Extra (Warner Bros.): 1.8 (+ 6), The Insider (CBS): 1.8 (- 5) Women 25-54:Entertainment Tonight (CBS): 2.6 (no change), Inside Edition: 1.7 (+13), Access Hollywood (NBCU): 1.5 (+15), TMZ (Warner Bros.): 1.5 (no change), Extra (Warner Bros.): 1.2 (+ 9), The Insider (CBS): 1.1 (no change) Adults 25-54:Entertainment Tonight (CBS): 2.0 (- 5), Inside Edition: 1.4 (+ 8), TMZ (Warner Bros.): 1.4 (no change), Access Hollywood (NBCU): 1.1 (no change), Extra (Warner Bros.) and The Insider (CBS): 0.9 (no change each) ---------- -Speaking of Syndication:NBC Universal’s growing Maury continues to impress this season. Based on the final national ratings for the holiday week of Dec. 21, Maury finished first among all talkers in women 18-34 (1.8 rating), adults 18-34 (1.4) and adults 18-49 (1.3), while tying CBS’ Oprah among women 18-49 (1.7). Leno is expected to return to his former 11:35 p.m. nightly time period after the Olympics in a half-hour version, followed by a still full hour of Conan O’Brien at 12:05 a.m. and Jimmy Fallon at 1:05 a.m. What that means for NBC weeknights at 10 p.m. is uncertain. NBC has not confirmed these rumors. As for The Jay Leno Show, one of the biggest gambles in the history of prime-time, what follows is a ratings track by week that only proves what a major disappointment this strip has been. Given the early sampling, there is no way to put a positive spin on these results. Viewers came, and they went. Even if Leno heads back to late night, the damage is done and there is no reason to believe results will equal prior levels. Miami Medical, a new drama about a team of trauma surgeons who race against time to save patients, will premiere in the Friday 10 p.m. hour on April 2. Current occupant Numb3rs, which had its episode order slashed to 16, will have officially completed its run. Benchwarmer sitcom Rules of Engagement will return on Monday, March 1 at 8:30 p.m. in place of freshman Accidentally on Purpose, which moves to Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. in place of Gary Unmarried beginning on March 31. Said Burnett in a prepared statement: “I recently discovered that there was an issue with how some information was relayed to contestants during the pre-production of Our Little Genius. As a result, I am not comfortable delivering the episodes without re-shooting them. I believe my series must always be beyond reproach, so I have requested that Fox not air these episodes.” Our Little Genius features extraordinarily bright youngsters who answer increasingly difficult questions to win as much money as they can with one catch: the parents can choose to walk away at any time. Airing in place of Our Little Genius on Jan. 13 will be a repeat of the 450th episode of The Simpsons.
