Syfy Renews Popular Special Effects Show

NBC Universal’s Syfy channel is saving face. Er, Face Off, that is. The cable network has renewed special-effects contest show Face Off for a second season.

The first seven of eight episodes have averaged 1.4 million viewers. Among adults 18-49, the series has averaged 897,000 viewers. The season one finale airs tonight, Wednesday, March 16.

Produced by Dwight D. Smith and Michael Agbabian of Mission Control, the series pits up-and-coming special-effects makeup artists against one another in a battle for $100,000.
