-Ratings Breakdown:

CBS led the Monday overnights despite airing a night of all repeats, followed by NBC, Fox, ABC and The CW, which was also non-original. Based on results on NBC and Fox, it might be best never to debut any new series near the holidays again.

The last minute preview of NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, which the network hoped would capitalize on the lead-in support from the season-finale of The Sing-Off, was barely visible at a third-place 2.5 rating/4 share in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, that put retention out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Sing-Off (5.7/ 8) at only 44 percent. Leading out of struggling Community in the Thursday 8:30 p.m. half-hour effective on Jan. 20, there is no reason to believe Perfect Couples has much of a future.

Overall, The Sing-Off concluded its short season with a respectable 5.7/ 9 from 8-10 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:

The Sing-Off (NBC)

8:00 p.m.: 6.0/ 9 (#1)

8:30 p.m.: 5.7/ 9 (#1)

9:00 p.m.: 5.5/ 8 (#2)

9:30 p.m.: 5.7/ 8 (#1)

Given the time of year, consider The Sing-Off a “winner.” NBC closed the night with a repeat of The Office at a very last-place 1.6/ 3 in the overnights at 10:30 p.m.

Over at Fox, two episodes of game show Million Dollar Money Drop opened with an uneventful (and third-place) 3.5/ 5 from 8-10 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:

Million Dollar Money Drop (Fox)

8:00 p.m.: 3.4/ 5 (#3)

8:30 p.m.: 3.7/ 6 (#3)

9:00 p.m.: 3.4/ 5 (#3)

9:30 p.m.: 3.6/ 5 (#3)

While this was up overall by 17 percent from repeats of House (3.3/ 5) and Lie to Me (2.8/ 4) on the year-ago evening, a mid-3 in the overnights is a lackluster start.

Over at CBS, its repeat line-up fared as follows:

CBS/Monday

 8:00 p.m. – How I Met Your Mother (R): 4.2/ 7 (#2)

 8:30 p.m. – Rules of Engagement (R): 4.0/ 6 (#2)

 9:00 p.m. – Two and a Half Men (R): 6.0/ 9 (#1)

 9:30 p.m. – Mike & Molly (R): 4.9/ 7 (#2)

10:00 p.m. – Hawaii Five-O (R): 5.5/ 9 (#1)

Elsewhere, ABC dud Skating with the Stars lived up to that description, with a fourth-place 3.0/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m. That led into back-to-back repeat episodes of Castle as follows:

Castle R (ABC)

 9:00 p.m. – 2.8/ 4 (#4)

10:00 p.m. – 3.8/ 7 (#2)

Look for returning The Bachelor to fill the Monday 8-10 p.m. block effective on Jan. 3.
