Yesterday’s Winners: America’s Got Talent (NBC) Expected to Dominate Among Adults 18-49: Hell’s Kitchen (Fox) Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats): 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show (ABC), Combat Hospital (ABC) Ratings Breakdown: Led by America’s Got Talent, there is no stopping NBC from winning Tuesday. NBC’s metered market advantage over second-place CBS was 25 percent. Third overall was Fox, followed by ABC and lowly The CW. Last night’s repeat count was a below-average 31 percent. In series-premiere news, NBC game show It’s Worth What?, hosted by comedian Cedric the Entertainer, kicked off second in the 8 p.m. hour, with a 4.1 rating/7 share in the overnights. First was a repeat of CBS’ NCIS (6.4/11), with Hell’s Kitchen on Fox third with a 4.1/ 7, followed by Wipeout on ABC (3.2/ 5), and a repeat of 90210 on The CW on its new night and time (0.5/ 1). Pending results among adults 18-49 should result in a first-place time-period finish for Hell’s Kitchen, with Wipeout and It’s Worth What? competing for second. Visit www.PIFeedback.com for the results. At 9 p.m., the first-hour of America’s Got Talent on NBC finished well above the competition, with a 7.5/12 in the overnights. Next was a repeat of NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS (5.0/ 8), followed by Masterchef on Fox (3.8/ 6), which is benefiting out of Hell’s Kitchen, 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show on ABC (2.6/ 4), and a repeat of returnee Shedding for the Wedding on The CW (0.4/ 1). At 10 p.m., the second half of America’s Got Talent on NBC beat the competition combined with a 7.7/13. Overall, America’s Got Talent averaged a 7.6/13 from 9-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows: America’s Got Talent (NBC) 9:00 p.m.: 7.4/12 (#1) 9:30 p.m.: 7.6/12 (#1) 10:00 p.m.: 7.8/13 (#1) 10:30 p.m.: 7.5/13 (#1) Also in the hour was a Tuesday edition of 48 Hours Mystery on CBS (4.0/ 7) and Canadian drama Combat Hospital on ABC (2.5/ 4). Source: Nielsen Media Research data (R = repeat) ___________________________________________________ NATIONAL RATINGS IN PRIME-TIME Week of July 11, 2011 It was another week of shared leadership, with CBS first in households and total viewers, and the home of the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Fox, No. 1 in the three key demos: adults 18-49, adults 25-54, and adults 18-34. The All-Star Game on Tuesday finished third overall in total viewers (out of 97 entries) with 10.97 million viewers, and second among adults 18-49, with a 3.1 rating/10 share in the demo. Excluding a third-place finish among adults 25-54, NBC ranked second across the board (tied with ABC among adults 18-34) at levels close to one year earlier. Last place The CW, which has no original programming this summer, dipped by margins of 17 to 25 percent. CBS was on par from one year earlier, while ABC and Fox suffered minor losses. Beneficial to CBS, of course, is the successful addition of Big Brother, which performed by night as follows: Big Brother (CBS) Wednesday 8 p.m. – Viewers: 7.31 million (#10), A18-49: 2.6 rating/9 share (#4) Thursday 9 p.m. – Viewers: 6.61 million (#14), A18-49: 2.3/ 7 (#7t) Sunday 8 p.m. – Viewers: 6.92 million (#12), A18-49: 2.4/ 8 (#6) In series-finale news, the 90-minute conclusion of Friday Night Lights on NBC went out with an uneventful 3.18 million viewers (#67) and a 0.8/ 3 among adults 18-49 (#69) in the Friday 8-9:30 p.m. block. Regardless, you have to give NBC credit for finding a way to keep the ratings-challenged family drama on the air for five seasons. Maury has now ranked first in total viewers for four straight weeks, this week with 3.37 million. Record Opening Levels for Giuliana & Bill on Style: Style Network reality half-hour, Giuliana & Bill, featuring E! host Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill Rancic, the former Apprentice winner, kicked off season four on Monday, July 18 with 289,000 viewers. Comparably, that was its most-watched season premiere to date, with growth of 28 percent from the prior season premiere. Cable Scorecard – Sunday, July 17: HBO’s True Blood led the Sunday basic cable programs, followed by TNT duo Falling Skies, which was recently renewed for season two, and Leverage.
