‘Phineas and Ferb’ Special Lifts Disney XD

Emerging Mouse House brand Disney XD on Sunday night notched its strongest ratings to date, as the 45-minute special Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation drew 2.62 million viewers at 8 p.m.

The delivery marks the boy-targeted network’s biggest draw since its roots as Toon Disney, the animation-themed precursor that launched in April 1998.

Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation also set a high-water mark among Disney XD’s core demos, including: kids 6-14 (1.30 million viewers), boys 6-14 (774,000), kids 6-11 (1.11 million) and boys 6-11 (660,000).

A weekend Phineas and Ferb marathon accounted for the ad-supported net’s top 20 most-watched programs on the week. In addition to the animated series, Disney XD also carries the original series Zeke & Luther and such Disney fare as the 2006 Pixar film Cars, which drew 1.21 million viewers on the evening of Nov. 16.
