Our cover star this week may not be a household name, but he’s certainly an icon in the world of television.

John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, has built FX into a high-quality programming leader on par with the likes of Netflix and HBO—a rare feat on cable. The secret, he tells Adweek senior editor Jason Lynch, is thinking not in terms of quarters or years, but in decades.

“FX has done extremely well by investing in the decade,” Landgraf says in this week’s cover story. “We’ve invested in the brand, quality, breadth and consistency, whether or not that had the most profoundly positive impact on the quarter or not.”

We invited Jason onto the Adweek podcast, “Yeah, That’s Probably an Ad,” to talk about his interview with Landgraf and how FX is bouncing back from a year of programming delays that threatened to slow the network’s impressive momentum.

Our podcast panel also tackles the recent brand backlash against the NRA and KFC’s eyebrow-raising apology for Britain’s chicken shortage.
