Programming honcho Bill McGoldrick has left high-rated cable network USA for corporate sibling Syfy, where he will assume many of the duties performed by outgoing exec Mark Stern in a newly-created position: evp of original content (Stern will remain at the company, where he is set to exec produce an unnamed series for Syfy sometime next year).

McGoldrick, an avowed sci-fi lover, brought upcoming time-travel series Horizon to USA and will now be in charge of Syfy's sizable programming slate, which includes an adaptation of Larry Niven's influential novel Ringworld and Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore's new series, Helix.
