Miami Dolphins Tap CC

The Miami Dolphins announced Monday (March 1) it signed a new six-year partnership with Clear Channel Communications that makes WBGG-FM (BIG 105.9) and WINZ-AM (940 The Sports Animal) in Miami the Dolphins flagship stations. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

With the Clear Channel agreement, on-air broadcast of the games moves from WQAM-AM (Sports Radio 560) owned by Beasley Broadcast Group, which held the broadcast rights for the past three years. WQAM will continue to air pre- and post-game shows. The Dolphins also extended its radio partnership with WRXK-FM in Fort Myers, Fla.

Under the terms of the partnership, preseason, regular season and playoff games through the 2015 NFL season will be broadcast on WINZ-AM. The station will also air a year-round Dolphins radio show weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Plans also include a Dolphins-branded HD multicast radio channel that will carry Internet radio broadcasts.

“This is a big win for Dolphins fans. Clear Channel’s strength of signal, network of stations and multimedia platform, combined with the additional Dolphins programming content will ensure that more fans will be able to listen to our games and follow our activities on and off the field,” said Dolphins CEO Mike Dee.

Clear Channel intends to promote the Dolphins relationship across its seven radio stations and its out of home assets operated by Clear Channel Outdoor.

The Dolphins newly formed integrated media sales group will sell the spot radio inventory, as well as offering corporate sponsors integrated marketing programs leveraging inventory on all its platforms. These include radio; TV; Web; print (Dolphin Digest and Game Day Playbook); Sun Life Stadium; and Dolphins-branded events and programs.
