Lionsgate TV, producer of AMC’s Mad Men and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, is facing reality with a two-year deal with nonscripted producer Eli Frankel.

Formerly an svp of development at Top Chef producer Magical Elves, Frankel said he and Lionsgate TV Group head Kevin Beggs already are out pitching ideas both to broadcast and cable networks.

When pressed for specifics, Frankel was loathe to reveal any sort of proprietary specifics. But he noted a number of areas in which Lionsgate projects are being developed, including the skin care, food and restaurant space, re-creations space, alternative lifestyle space, dangerous jobs, the sex scandals space and, wait for it, docu-soap set in the South.

“Instead of copying formats or replicating what’s already in the marketplace, we want to take each of these areas one step further,”  said Frankel, who added he’s pitching more show ideas to cable than broadcast.
