Lifetime’s Army Wives Redeploys to Slighly Lower Stats

Lifetime’s Army Wives reported for its third tour of duty Sunday night (June 7), delivering 3.48 million total viewers in the 10 p.m. time slot.

While the premiere was down slightly (8 percent) from Army Wives’ sophomore-season run of 3.78 million viewers, it will be interesting to see how the show’s numbers will look once DVR playback is factored into the ratings equation. For example, last year’s season opener drew 4.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen fast nationals; upon application of the live-plus-seven-day data, that number leapt to 5.12 million viewers.

That said, the early numbers remain promising, especially among Lifetime’s target demo. Last night’s installment of Army Wives delivered 1.37 million women 18-49, making it the most-watched premiere among the demo on cable thus far in 2009.

Army Wives stars Kim Delaney and Catherine Bell and is produced by ABC Studios and The Mark Gordon Company.
