-Ratings Breakdown:

It was a typically low-rated summer Friday, with CBS first overall in total viewers (with under five million) and NBC No. 1 among adults 18-49 (at a mere 1.1 rating in the demo). With that in mind, CBS aired repeats of Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: #1, 4.50 million; A18-49: #1, 1.0 rating/5 share), Canadian drama Flashpoint (Viewers: #2, 4.40 million; A18-49: #2t, 0.8/ 3), which returns in midseason, and Numbers (Viewers: #2, 5.15 million; A18-49: #3, 0.9/ 4). NBC opened with another burn-off episode of reality/competition The Chopping Block (Viewers: #3, 2.40 million; A18-49: #3, 0.6/ 3), followed by a two-hour edition of Dateline (Viewers: 5.22 million; A18-49: 1.3/ 5 from 9-11 p.m.), which built in every half-hour as follows:

Dateline (NBC)

 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.03 million (#2), A18-49: 1.1/ 5 (#1)

 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.92 million (#1), A18-49: 1.2/ 5 (#1)

10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.72 million (#1), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#1)

10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.19 million (#1), A18-49: 1.7/ 6 (#1)

Elsewhere (and there was not much), ABC filled the night with a repeat of Surviving Suburbia (Viewers: #4, 2.21 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.6/ 3), which has not survived in the ratings, failed animated entry The Goode Family (Viewers: #4, 1.45 million; A18-49: #4, 0.5/ 2), back-to-back repeats of canceled According to Jim (Viewers: #4, avg. 1.97 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 0.7/ 3 from 9-10 p.m.) and 20/20 (Viewers: #3, 4.28 million; A18-49: #2, 1.2/ 5). Fox aired the return of game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Viewers: #2, 4.26 million; A18-49: #2, 0.9/ 4), which debuts in first-run syndication in a half-hour format this fall, and summer drama Mental (Viewers: #3, 3.43 million; A18-49: #2, 0.8/ 4). And lowly The CW capped off the evening with repeats of its canceled line-up of Privileged (Viewers: 780,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 678,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1) and The Game (Viewers: 726,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1).
