My media habits are kind of upside down compared to a lot of folks. I grab a cup of coffee and my laptop. Usually I go online. I’ll look at The Wall Street Journal and move down the line. Are you a TV junkie or on an airtime-restricted diet? Like everybody else, I’m on a time-restricted diet. Of course, I watch Fox News and the other news networks. I watch every Fox news show and every Fox entertainment show. To relax at night, around 9 p.m. or so, my wife and I will usually watch a couple of shows. But we don’t spend a lot of time with TV. We’re still licking our wounds from the loss of House. It was a brilliant show while it lasted. Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter or fast until morning? Around bedtime I take a break. By the time I get home, I check in that all is right in the world, or at least hasn’t worsened. Which is more nutritious: print or Web? I’m probably the opposite of most people. In the morning I go straight to the Web. The Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the New York Post. Drudge is terrific. What about Twitter? I’m doing more and more on Twitter. I’ve just started getting the hang of it. As I learn more, I’m doing more. Increasingly, the Web is something I can’t do without. But when I’m in the car each day coming into work, I still have to have the Times and the Journal in front of me. I find myself rereading stories. I’m a bit upside down. I’m on the phone, I’m emailing, I’m doing everything else. At same time, I love to have that paper there. It helps me find a story that isn’t my typical fare. Any In Touch or Us Weekly? My wife says I live in a box when it comes to pop culture. I rely on her for that. Give us the skinny on your favorite app. My apps tend to be pretty mainstream. Again, it’s the Journal, Barron’s, Fox Business. I’m not a games person. That eludes me. My wife is so brilliant at multitasking, texting, reading, playing games. I have a limited scan and I have to stay within that. You launched Space.com over a decade ago. The site is still around although you’ve not been involved and it’s been sold a few times. Do you ever wonder if the site was ahead of its time? It was actually the perfect time. NASA was behind its time, unfortunately. As I watch now what everybody is doing with SpaceX, etc., it’s exactly what I was writing about at the time. It’s great and rewarding. The private sector is going to have to lead. Thankfully, you have these rich, brilliant, brave guys leading the way.
