Fox Business Net Nails Down Dish Carriage

Fox Business Network has secured carriage on DISH Network, upping its sub count by some four million subscribers and bringing its total distribution to nearly 50 million households.

Beginning Tuesday Feb. 3, FBN will be available via DISH Network’s Classic Gold 250 package, the digital tier formerly marketed under the “America’s Top 250” banner.

As part of the carriage deal, Fox News Channel will move to more favorable real estate, taking the channel 205 position on DISH’s Classic Bronze 100 package, thereby increasing its distribution to more than 11 million DISH subs. Per terms of the new deal, both FBN and FNC will be available to DISH subs in the hi-def format.

“We’re pleased to count DISH Network as our newest FBN affiliate and look forward providing their subscribers with up-to-the-minute breaking business news reports during one of the most important times in our history for financial news,” said Tim Carry, the network’s senior vp of affiliate relations, by way of announcing the carriage deal.

With 13.8 million subs, DISH is the third largest pay-TV provider in the U.S., trailing only Comcast (approx. 24.4 million subs) and Time Warner Cable (14.7 million).

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, Carry said that HD feeds of FBN and FNC will go live in Time Warner’s metro New York footprint on Feb. 4.
