Estrella Signs Affil. Deal With Belo

Estrella TV, Liberman Broadcasting’s new Spanish-language TV network set to launch in third quarter, announced Tuesday (May 19) it has signed an affiliation agreement with Belo. The affiliation pact gives the new network clearance in four more markets to reach 60 percent of Hispanic TV households.

Belo will air Estrella TV on the digital multicast channels of KENS-TV in San Antonio, Texas; KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas; KTTU-TV in Tucson, Ariz.; and KGW-TV in Portland, Ore.

Estrella TV has recently signed a number of affiliation deals over the past few months, including Liberman’s owned-and-operated stations in Dallas, Houston and New York.

“This significant milestone of reaching nearly 60 percent of Hispanic households in the U.S. demonstrates the ongoing appeal of original, compelling content that counterprograms Univision and Telemundo,” said Lenard Liberman, executive vp of LBI Media.

Estrella TV’s slate or original programming includes musical-variety, comedy, scripted drama, talk and game shows, a daily national newscast and a news magazine show.
