-Ratings Breakdown:

Despite airing a night of all repeats, CBS still dominated the Tuesday overnights with its encore combination of NCIS (#1t: 8.1 rating/13 share), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#1: 7.0/11) and critically acclaimed (and older-skewing) The Good Wife (#1t: 5.2/ 9). But Fox is a shoo-in for victory among adults 18-49 care of its line-up of Glee (#1t: 8.1/13), Raising Hope (#4: 4.2/ 6) and canceled Running Wilde (#4: 2.6/ 4). To the fans of Raising Hope (and I am one of them), sorry folks, but retention of only 52 percent out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Glee (8.1/12) is a “losing” performance.

In season-premiere news, NBC game show Minute to Win It disappointed with a fourth-place 4.0/ 7 in the overnights at 8 p.m. Given competing NCIS was a repeat, these returning results should have been better. Next on NBC was a 9-11 p.m. edition of The Biggest Loser, which averaged a 5.1/ 8, with the half-hour breakdown as follows:

The Biggest Loser (NBC)

 9:00 p.m.: 5.0/ 8 (#2)
 9:30 p.m.: 5.1/ 8 (#2)

10:00 p.m.: 5.2/ 8 (#2)

10:30 p.m.: 5.2/ 9 (#1)

One year earlier, the season-finale of The Biggest Loser scored a significantly higher 7.5/12 in the overnights on Dec. 8, 2009. The current season, certainly not one of the better ones from a ratings perspective, ends next Tuesday.

Elsewhere, ABC opened the evening with a repeat of annual holiday special A Charlie Brown Christmas with a third-place 5.1/ 8 from 8-9 p.m., which should definitely warrant some interest demographically. Next was relocated No Ordinary Family (#3: 4.2/ 7), which was stronger at 8 p.m., followed by disappointing Detroit 1-8-7 at a third-place 4.7/ 8 at 10 p.m. As a reminder, long-awaited Dana Delany crime solver Body of Proof steps into the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour in place of Detroit 1-8-7 in March. As for No Ordinary Family, here is an updated metered market track:

No Ordinary Family (ABC)

 9/28/10: 7.4/11 – Tues. 8 p.m.

10/05/10: 5.9/ 9 – Tues. 8 p.m.

10/12/10: 5.3/ 8 – Tues. 8 p.m.

10/19/10: 5.3/ 8 – Tues. 8 p.m.

10/26/10: 5.2/ 8 – Tues. 8 p.m.

11/09/10: 5.2/ 8 – Tues. 8 p.m.

11/16/10: 4.8/ 7 – Tues. 8 p.m.

11/23/10: 4.9/ 8 – Tues. 8 p.m.

11/30/10: 4.0/ 6 – Tues. 9 p.m.

12/07/10: 4.2/ 6 – Tues. 9 p.m.

Last, and very least, was The CW’s combination of veteran One Tree Hill (#5: 1.6/ 3) and canceled Life Unexpected (#5: 1.4/ 2), which ends its run with back-to-back episodes on Jan. 18.

Week of November 29, 2010

CBS and Fox dominated the week of November 29, with CBS first in households, total viewers and adults 25-54, and Fox No. 1 among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. CBS and NBC finished close to year-ago levels, while ABC and Fox were on the downside. Last-place The CW, however, built by double-digit percentages and that growth is a result of a full slate of originals this time around (including the season-finale of America’s Next Top Model at 3.36 million viewers and a 2.1 rating/4 share in the Wednesday 8 p.m. hour).

In time period-premiere news, ABC’s freshman No Ordinary moved back one hour to Tuesday at 9 p.m., and it fared no better with 6.23 million viewers (#51 overall – series low) and a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#44t). Considerably stronger on ABC was Oklahoma vs. Nebraska in The Big 12 Championship on Saturday at 8.98 million viewers (#24) and a 2.7/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#19t) from 8-11 p.m.

In a week populated with several original holiday specials, here is how they fared (in order of total viewers):

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer R (CBS) – Tuesday 8 p.m.

Viewers: 12.20 million (#6 overall), A18-49: 3.9/11 (#6 overall)

Christmas in Rockefeller Center (NBC) – Tuesday 8 p.m.

Viewers: 11.26 million (#12), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#44t)

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (CBS) – Tuesday 10 p.m.

Viewers: 8.96 million (#25), A18-49: 3.4/ 9 (#11)

CMA Country Christmas (ABC) – Monday 9:30 p.m.

Viewers: 7.30 million (#41), A18-49: 1.4/ 4 (#71t)

The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night (CBS) – Wednesday 10 p.m.

Viewers: 5.01 million (#68), A18-49: 1.7/ 5 (#55t)

And in original made-for movie news, A Walk in My Shows on NBC in the Friday 8-10 p.m. block was no walk in the ratings at just 4.46 million viewers (#75) and a 1.0/ 3 in the demo (#83t).
