Dan Patrick to Host Daily DirecTV Show

Former ESPN anchor and nationally syndicated radio host Dan Patrick is returning to TV with a new daily show. Beginning Aug. 3, the sportscaster will host a three-hour program on DirecTV’s The 101 Network, the satellite TV company’s original programming channel.

The program will air live weekdays 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Based on Patrick’s radio show, the new DirecTV program will expand on the radio show format, complete with Patrick’s trademark humor and sports commentary.

“You never know what Dan could do whenever he is left to his own devices but it sounds like it will be a twisted version of The Office with some guests and sports commentary mixed in—at least that’s what he is telling us anyway,” said Eric Shanks, executive vp of entertainment at DirecTV.

Patrick is slated to deliver 250 shows a year for the network.

Through a partnership with The Content Factory, The Dan Patrick Show airs daily on FoxSports Radio, Sirius XM, on 200 radio stations, and Patrick’s Web site. Patrick is also a senior writer at Sports Illustrated and a contributor to SI.com’s Fan Nation and host of the magazine’s Sportsman of the Year show. Last September he was reunited with Keith Olbermann, joining NBC Sports as co-host of the inaugural season of Football Night in America, a show that preceded NBC’s broadcasts of NFL football.
