CBS led this repeat drenched December Thursday, more than doubling distant second-place Fox in the overnights. Next was ABC, followed by NBC and two more back-to-back repeats of The Vampire Diaries on The CW. Only two shows last night, CBS sitcoms The Big Bang Theory and $#*! My Dad Says, were original telecasts.

That said, The Big Bang Theory on CBS topped the Thursday troops, with a healthy 8.7 rating/14 share at 8 p.m. Aforementioned lead-out $#*! My Dad Says also dominated, with a 6.3/10 at 8:30 p.m., but the retention out of Sheldon, Leonard and company was only 72 percent. Overall, the two sitcoms combined bested year-ago occupant Survivor: Samoa (6.1/10 on Dec. 17, 2009) by a solid 23 percent.

Capping off the evening for the Eye net were repeats of CSI (#1: 6.2/10) and The Mentalist (#1: 7.0/12) from 9-11 p.m. Both encore telecasts stood well above the competition in the overnights.

Fox filled the evening with two repeat episodes of Bones (#2: avg. 3.4/ 5 from 8-10 p.m.), while ABC aired repeats of A Charlie Brown Christmas (#2: 4.5/ 7), Grey’s Anatomy (#3: 3.1/ 5) and Private Practice (#2: 2.5/ 4). As a reminder, returning American Idol moves into the Thursday 8 p.m. hour on Fox on Jan. 27, followed by relocated Bones.

NBC aired a night of all sitcom repeats, and fared miserably as follows:

10:00 p.m. – The Office (R): 2.4/ 4 (#3)

10:30 p.m. – The Office (R): 2.2/ 4 (#3)

As a reminder, NBC will be revamping its Thursday line-up effective on Jan. 20 as follows:

Thursday
8:00 p.m.: Community
8:30 p.m.: Perfect Couples (new)
9:00 p.m.: The Office
9:30 p.m.: Parks and Recreation (return)
10:00 p.m: 30 Rock (new time)
10:30 p.m.: Outsourced (new time)

Last were the two repeat episodes of The Vampire Diaries on The CW at an average 1.3/ 2 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m.
