While Time Warner Cable and Disney trade barbs in the press over their ongoing retransmission negotiations, CBS Corp. and Comcast quietly agreed to a comprehensive 10-year retransmission pact one year before the companies’ current deal expires.
The agreement, which runs until 2020, includes carriage for CBS’ 28 TV stations, the full suite of Showtime Networks, next year’s launch of the Smithsonian Channel, and expanded distribution of CBS College Sports. Comcast will also have expanded on-demand access to CBS and Showtime content both via cable and online.
