With a double elimination of American Idol tonight, my picks for the bottom three are Andrew Garcia who just could never match his rendition of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” early in the season, overrated Siobhan Magnus and young Aaron Kelly. Most likely to be departing: Andrew Garcia and Aaron Kelly. _____________________________________________________________________________ National Ratings in Prime-Time:Week of April 5, 2010 It was yet another week of split leadership, with CBS dominating in households, total viewers and adults 25-54, and Fox No. 1 among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. CBS placed first in total viewers for the fifth consecutive week and first in adults 25-54 for the fourth straight week. Comparably, the Eye net was close to year-ago levels, while Fox dipped by as much as 18 percent among adults 18-34. The main reason for that loss is slowly deteriorating American Idol, which has taken a backseat in total viewers to ABC’s growing Dancing With the Stars. The dance juggernaut topped the entertainment charts at 21.21 million viewers despite facing Butler versus Duke on the NCAA Basketball Men’s Championship on CBS Monday (23.94 million). ABC finished third across the board with minor losses from one year earlier, while fourth-place NBC dipped by margins of 15 to 19 percent. Last-place The CW was on the plus side thanks to 90 percent of its line-up in originals (versus about one-half in repeats last year). Treme opened with approximately 1.4 million viewers on Sunday, April 11. -More Mexican Made Easy:Production will begin on April 17 for season two of Food Network’s Mexican Made Easy, which will begin airing in June 2010. Thirteen episodes will shoot through May. -Idol’s Rickey Minor to Replace Kevin Eubanks:American Idol music director Rickey Minor will replace The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’s departing bandleader Kevin Eubanks effective on Monday, June 7.
