Bob Dylan Perfectly Punctuates Moonlight-La La Land Best Picture Snafu

Another memorable conversation with Bill Flanagan

A long Q&A dropped Wednesday on bobdylan.com in connection with the imminent release of the singer’s latest album of standards, Triplicate. In conversation once more with Bill Flanagan, the artist addresses all manner of topics.

At one point, the two presenters caught in the middle of this year’s PwC Oscars mess come up. Right after Dylan clarifies that it was he and George Harrison who failed to show up for a session with Elvis Presley, not the other way around:

Warren Beatty says he wanted you to play Clyde Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde. Did that offer get to you?

No, the offer was sent to my manager’s office and we weren’t speaking; we had had a falling out. I didn’t get any mail or offers that were sent there.

You could have had some love scenes with Faye Dunaway–any regrets?

Nope.

Somehow, this feels like the perfect final word about #OscarsSoWrong (especially since in the case of the Beatty offer, a wayward envelope may also have been involved). And if you’re a fan of the TV show I Love Lucy, be sure to read all the way through to the end of the Q&A. Dylan may have been joking when he referenced how he watches that program. If not, quite the mental picture.
