The NBA and digital entertainment company BroadbandTV, or BBTV, are launching a new YouTube channel today that takes viewers behind the scenes to meet their favorite NBA players and influencers. The channel is called NBA Playmakers and will feature original shows.
“This community of creators has become part of the NBA family and has helped us connect with fans in a new way,” said Jeff Marsilio, NBA senior vice president, new media distribution, in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to launch this channel to further reach and engage our passionate fans through unique content.”
New series will include “Run That Back,” a show in which commentary is provided from current and former NBA legends on impressive moves; “Jump Start,” a series made up of humorous conversations between players and teams of stand-out moments; and “On the Court,” featuring basketball games and training sessions with social media influencers.
The NBA Playmakers network started in 2016, with BBTV and the NBA agreeing to work together to give social media influencers the ability to create content with access to the NBA. BBTV claims to generate 34.6 billion impressions every month.
