AMC Orders Two More Pilots

Network okays production for period dramas

AMC is among the most cautious networks on the dial when it comes to development, so four pilot orders in one season is an absolute shopping spree: 1980's tech boom drama Halt & Catch Fire and 18th-century period piece Turn have been given the go-ahead by the prestige-y drama net, along with previously announced projects Low Winter Sun and an untitled project between The Fisher King screenwriter Richard LaGravanese and Tony Goldwyn, rumored to be going ahead with Prime Suspect co-star Damon Gupton in the leading role.

Halt & Catch Fire is created by Chris Cantwell and Chris Rodgers; Breaking Bad producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein will produce. The series follows three men whose projects put them in opposition to the big guns in the 1980's technology world.

Turn is based on Alexander Rose's 2006 book Washington's Spies, a chronicle of Revolutionary War spy organization the Culper Ring, which experimented with early cryptography techniques and was run by New York farmer Abe Woodhull. Nikita, Terra Nova, and Bones vet Craig Silverstein will write and Silverstein's Bones producer Barry Josephson will produce through his company, Josephson Entertainment.
